In the heart of Bois de Vincennes (Vincennes Woods), east of Paris, you can find the Paris Zoo, one of the best in the world.  There are over 500 animals in the 37 acres park. Paris Zoo first opened in 1934, modeled after the Hamburg Zoo.

Besides the animals there is the Great Rock (65m tall) from which you have a great view of the zoo as well as Paris.

The Paris Zoo has tried hard to provide a natural environment for the animals. They also participate in various conservation projects worldwide.
