Nos Ancêtres les Gaulois All Inclusive all you can eat 39 rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île Paris 4 Tel: 01 46 33 66 07 Metro: Pont Marie |
Located at Ile Saint-Louis, near Notre Dame Cathedral, in a 16th century building you are taken back to the medieval times at Nos Ancetres les Gaulois. The restaurant has expanded a few times since it opened in 1969. The most significant one was in 1972 when the owners expanded and took over the neighbouring store. As they were revonating they uncovered beautiful stone corbels which had been used to support a drawbridge. That is when they discovered that this place was a gatehouse for a very old church.
Nos Ancetres les Gaulois offers all inclusive buffet, with meat, vegetable and fruit baskets, cheese, desert and of course lovely wine poured directly from the barrel for a fixed price of 41€ at the time of writing this article.
You will also be entertained by live musicians. However it is not recommended for intimate dinner rendez-vouz. It is a place to go when you want to sing, dance, drink and be merry.
Nos Ancêtres les Gaulois is open for dinner from 7PM to 2AM.

| Berthillon ice cream is closed from mid-July to the end of August, but you can get their ice cream at many of the nearby restaurants. |

Fun, but not fine dining., Aug 13, 2008 |

| A lot of singing and a lot of drinking. I used to live around the corner, and I'd hear the drunken customers singing as they left. There are many foreigners (at least the singing was in English or German). All you can eat and all you can drink (wine or water). The food is very fresh, but simple. The waiter brings over a tray of vegetables, and you cut off what you want (carrot, cucumber, etc.). You fill your own carafe at the wine barrel. They serve cheese, coldcuts and a cooked meat. I can't remember about the desert. It's a lot of fun, but you can get better food at a better value at other restaurants. You pay for the atmosphere, and it really is a lot of fun. If you're on the island in the summer, you should go to the ice cream maker Berthillon at 31, rue Saint-Louis en l'Ile. They have the best ice cream in Paris, with many interesting flavors. Non-smoking as of January 1, 2008. |
