Located at the Latin Quarter area, The Museum of Middle Ages is housed at Hotel de Cluny, which was build over the ruins of Gallo-Roman baths. At 1485 Jacques d'Amboise built the current building offering the Benedictine monks a place to stay. It took 13 years to complete the construction.
Hotel de Cluny was damaged during the French Revolution but restored. It became Musee de Cluny in 1844. Inside you can find great collections of Gallo-Roman ruins and Medieval arts, including costumes, paintings, great tapestries and sculptures.
Recently the museum added a Medieval garden around Hotel de Cluny.

| Beautiful tapestries. You should expect to spend two hours to see everything. The museum is near Notre Dame, the Sorbonne, the Pantheon and the Luxembourg Gardens, so you can visit several sites in a day if you plan properly. |
