This is where Josephine, Napoleon’s wife loved to stay even after her divorce until her death. She purchased Malmaison while Napoleon was at war in 1799.  He did not like the palace as much since it was quite simple compared to the other castles. After becoming a museum, it has been decorated with  beautiful furniture. Malmaison Chateau is a must see for Napoleon lovers. Don’t miss Napoleon’s secret staircase, and the rose garden planted by Josephine after her divorce

At the same time you can visit Chateau Bois Préau, which was bought by Josephine in 1810 and now is a museum dedicated to Napoleons exile in St. Helena and his death. (Le Chateau Bois Préau is currently closed for renovations).

These castles are about 15 km west of Paris.
